Morgan Daimler – Brigid: Meeting The Celtic Goddess Of Poetry, Forge, And Healing Well

As always, the strength of this short, but mighty book is Daimler’s knowledge of lore. The author writes about Brigid’s relationships and associations, and triplicities of the Goddess. Brigid appeared in many countries by many names, as a pagan goddess and catholic saint. You get familiar with her stories and mentions in The Cath Maige Tuired, Lebor Gabala Erenn or Sanas Cormac, Imcallam in da Thurad, Lebar na Núachongbála and The Lake of Beer, as well as in Scottish, Welsh and Manx sources. You learn about symbols, animals and holidays associated with Brigid. An important chapter focuses on the goddess in modern times. It talks about modern myths (Boínn or the Morrigan as her mother, Brigid as a triple Goddess). And covers flame tending, offerings, altars and guided meditation to Brigid. You can also find here prayers (for a good childbrith, for travel or mourning), chants, charms and invocations (to Brighid the Poet, Brighid of the Forge, Brighid the Healer).
