two boats caught in a storm
desperately clinging to each other
dying inner light protecting us
from the creeping darkness

lightning split the sky
violent crack of thunder shook my bones
and broke something in me

I felt myself slipping from your grasp
hoping you would grab my wrist
and don’t let go

I succumbed to the storm
let my boat crash into the jagged rocks
felt my body drown in the sea
dragged under
lost to the darkness
